PooDrop Privacy Policy

PooDrop ("PooDrop," "we," "us," or "our") operates the PooDrop mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

The short version

• We collect the info you give us when you make an account (email or Apple sign-in, plus a username), your dropped-bag locations, your activity stats, and an optional profile photo.
• We use Google's Firebase for accounts and data storage, and Google Maps to show the map.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the App (Profile → Settings → Delete Account).

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the email or private relay address Apple shares with us. We also store a username, which you can edit (an auto-generated one is assigned if you don't choose your own).
• Profile photo (optional). If you upload a profile photo, we store it. You can change or remove it at any time.

Information we collect when you use the App

• Location of dropped bags. When you "drop a bag," we record the geographic coordinates and the time of that drop so the bag can appear on the community map. These locations are visible to other PooDrop users on the map. We only record a location at the moment you choose to drop a bag — we do not track your location continuously in the background.
• Activity stats. We keep counts of your activity (bags you've picked up, bags you've left behind, and a derived score) to power the leaderboard and your profile stats.

Information collected automatically

• Diagnostics. Our service providers may collect basic technical and crash information to keep the App running reliably.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• create and maintain your account;
• show dropped bags on the community map and let users pick them up;
• calculate and display leaderboard rankings and personal stats;
• show your username and profile photo to other users in the App;
• communicate with you about your account or support requests; and
• keep the App secure and working properly.

Location permissions

The App requests permission to use your location so you can see the map centered on you and drop bags at your current spot. iOS controls these permissions, and you can change them at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Location Services. Denying location access will limit map and drop features but you can still use other parts of the App.

How your information is shared

• With other users. Your username, profile photo, dropped-bag locations, and leaderboard standing are visible to other PooDrop users. Please keep this in mind when choosing a username, photo, and where you drop bags.
• With service providers. We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, and file storage) and the Google Maps SDK to operate the App. Your data is processed by these providers on our behalf. See Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
• For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PooDrop, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your dropped-bag records, and your uploaded profile photo. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the associated sign-in token. Some information may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Children's privacy

PooDrop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@poodrop.app and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can edit your username, email, and photo in the App, and delete your account entirely. For any other request, contact us at support@poodrop.app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, may provide additional notice in the App.
